There are 6 nutrients found in the food you eat. They are:
Carbohydrates Proteins Fats Vitamins Minerals Water These 6 nutrients give you various amounts of energy and are vital for healthy growth, and preventing disease. It is important to make sure you are getting all 6 nutrients from the foods you eat. |
MacroNutrients Fuel the BodyCarbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats are considered essential macronutrients. They are considered macronutrients because you consume the largest quantities of them in the foods you eat. Macronutrients give your body energy.

MicroNutrients help maintain healthy development and prevent disease.
Vitamins and Minerals are considered essential micronutrients. You need smaller amounts of these compared to carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
They also must be obtained from the foods you eat. |
